Our campsite is located on the edge of Saxon Switzerland, in the triangle formed by Dresden, Pirna, and Stolpen, on the Wesenitz River. The old mill has been converted into a hydroelectric power plant, and the old timber yard is now the RV parking area.
From here, you can reach the Bastei in 15 minutes, hike or climb in Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland, stroll through Pirna's old town, enjoy a nice meal, or experience the nightlife in Dresden's Neustadt district. Day trips to Stolpen Castle, Königstein Fortress, Pillnitz Castle, Moritzburg, the city of Dresden (Saxon's Florence on the Elbe), or even Prague are possible. You can also simply enjoy the peace and quiet by the river and relax.
Nearby hiking routes include the favorite valley to the Belvedere above the 3 Kastaniensee, the high bridges to Pillnitz, or the beautiful Wesenitz Valley with the transition from the Lusatian granite plateau to the Saxon Elbe Sandstone, where R. Wagner composed Lohengrin. 🌄
Public transport is a 3-minute walk away. Intercity buses to Dresden, Pirna, Stolpen, and Sebnitz.
