Over New Year's Eve we went to South Tyrol for hiking and skiing. We chose the Prinz Rudolph campsite in Meran as our place of stay. On the way there we looked at Memmingen and some accommodation options in Austria. On the way back there had to be a detour to the Free State in Sulzemoos. On the trip we were able to enjoy some listening tours again.

Prinz Rudolph Ressorts in Meran
Camping Prinz Rudolph our domicile for 1 week over New Year's Eve
The site is about 200m from the Meran 2000 valley station. It is a terraced parking space with a great view of the valley. Unfortunately it is in the shade during the winter months. The equipment is neat and the cleanliness leaves nothing to be desired. The price is okay at €44 plus €4 for the dog. The condition of the pitches, all of which have grass and loose gravel, was annoying. Since it was very damp, the tire tracks left deep ruts. Despite the efforts of the very friendly court staff, little changed in the condition.
The hotel, which is located directly on the square, also offers a bread delivery service and meals in the restaurant. From our point of view, the latter can be neglected, at least as far as the pizza is concerned.
Great hikes can be made in the vicinity of the site, including along the Waalwege (channel-guided irrigation system for the apple and wine plantations). It takes about 40 minutes to walk to the center of Meran. But there is a good bus network. A bus stop is directly at the campsite.
Conclusion: the campsite offers a pleasant stay, but with a few downsides. With the possible activities in the area you will be compensated for this. The view from the Womo into the valley is gigantic.

Since the weather is getting worse, we want to look for a HYMER B-Class ModernComfort T 550 in the Free State. The idea has been maturing for some time and the ideas for configuring the RV are becoming more and more concrete. We therefore drive to the parking space in the Free State to spend the night. Unfortunately it's on January 6th. Holiday in Bavaria and we content ourselves with a first tour of the grounds.
