A very special rainforest can be found within the US state of Washington. Here, in the Olympic National Park you will be enveloped by the mythical, luscious greenery of trees, ferns and moss. Dozens of tree trunks lie along the rocky coastline. Look for the campsite Kalaloch, situated by the open water for a perfect overnight spot. The generous pitches even offer you a view of the sunset, right from your bed.
Iceland – The hunt for the geysers
Iceland is the largest volcanic island on the planet, and is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to discover hot springs, geysers and the occasional aeroplane wreck, or simply be alone with nature. Here, there are more sheep than people, and in some regions there are even elves, fairies, gnomes and trolls. Visit Skaftafell National Park to see the breathtaking scenery formed by the monumental waterfall and impressive basalt columns.
Saxon Switzerland – The wild east
You don’t always have to travel a long way to find impressive rock formations. How about a trip to Saxon Switzerland in Germany. Here in Saxony, just before the border to the Czech Republic, the countryside is ideal for hiking and photography. Make sure you don’t miss the sunrise at the Bastei Bridge in the Elbe Sandstone Mountain. And a boat trip on the little river Kirnitzsch to the wild romantically situated bark hut is always an amazing adventure for children big and small.
North Cap – The top of Europe
North Cap – a barren plateau, from which steep cliffs descend deep into the ocean below. The northern-most point of Europe is a real natural beauty and the ideal destination for an extended caravan or motorhome tour through Norway. The stage from Alta to North Cap, with its picture-postcard scenery of the Pjorsangerfjord, is simply unforgettable.
The Highlands of Scotland – Endless green expanses
The moorland landscape in northwest Scotland is known for films such as “Outlander” or James Bond’s “Skyfall”. The Highlands are the source and home of Scottish whisky, and what better place to enjoy a glass but on a campsite with a view of the hilly countryside. Then next day continue with your motorhome or caravan to the legendary Glenfinnan viaduct or Loch Morlich, for example.
Lake Garda – Riviera feeling close to home
Lake Garda in northern Italy is the ideal destination to grab a bit of Italian feeling without travelling all the way to central or southern Italy. La dolce vita is here, right behind the Alps, after a short ferry crossing from the east bank, which is easily reached with a motorhome, to the luxurious Grand Hotel Fasano on the west bank. With a cappuccino on the terrace, you’ll feel like James Bond himself.
Normandy – The birthplace of European history
You can still experience mediaeval life in many places in Normandy. For example, take a trip across the tidal flats to the famous St Michael's Mound. In the Bayeux cathedral, you can admire an exceptional piece of history: The only 52 cm wide Bayeux Tapestry, which tells the story of the Norman conquest of England over its 68 metres (!) length. And a real must for the journey: A trip over the futuristic and more than two-kilometre long Normandy Bridge.
Morocco – 1001 nights in the Atlas Mountains
Sandy expanses, enchanting desert towns and nomads with mules: The wilderness of Morocco and above all, the Atlas Mountains have a very special charm. The surrounding beauty is best explored on foot – for example from the mountain village Imlil. With an experienced guide at your side, why not scale, for example, Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain.
Montenegro – Beauty between the mountains and the sea
Montenegro’s coast could be straight from an artist’s sketch block. Small villages, such as Sveti Stefan, nestled against the shore seem to be frozen in time, and are a stark contrast to the international jet set in fashionable yacht harbours. Montenegro is an insider tip in the centre of Europe. And then there’s the cuisine, a mixture of traditional and innovative dishes are served in, for example, the restaurant Catovica Mlini. Here, in a 300-year old oil mill in the enchanting village of Morinj, you can enjoy the local specialities of seafood, spicy lamb and home-made cheese! Also: on the way to Montenegro there are some fabulous spots for you to discover in Croatia!
Big Sur, USA – The dreamy Pacific coast

Driving along Highway 1, you follow the spectacular Pacific coastline. The famous McWay Falls right at the beach at Big Sur are an absolute must for all photographers. Those in the know begin their tour further north in Eureka, where the coast is more natural and there are superb pitches right at the sea.
